Review

For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined. Even as others were drawn into their mother’s dark and perverse web, the sisters found the strength and courage to escape an escalating nightmare that culminated in multiple murders.

Now, this book is very different from my go to genre’s, but I love this genre too. I was highly into this book. So much so that I was constantly looking up info on the case and trying to see where Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek are today. I didn’t find anything, but the suspense was killing me. This book was amazing, but then sad because you realize this is based on a true story.

As Gregg Olson speaks on the horrible events that take place with these children it makes you want to find the mother and beat her up. Hear me the events are cringing and it can be a lot, so I don’t recommend this book for anyone who has gone through child abuse in their lifetime.

I like how Gregg interviews the children and family and adds their statements in. You get to see what everyone was thinking back then. I loved the whole psychology of the book. Being a future psychologist I was going over the behaviors, actions, statements, and background of the mother trying to diagnose her. I came up with a lot, but I can’t share because you will get the tea on Shelly. If you have read this book before please reach out to me to share your thoughts on Shelly.

I loved this book and I do pray that the children and their families are doing okay since the release. I highly recommend this book!
