It Ends With Us Book Review
Synopsis:
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up — she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
Of course I have seen this book all over my Instagram, Tik Tok, and Pinterest. I just had to get it and see what all the rave was about. My God this was such a great read!
I love everything about this book. I loved the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution. The way that Colleen writes made me even more in awe. How descriptive she was and the delivery format (the old journal entries). I loved how everything tied together.
Lilly was of course my favorite character. She did not piss me off at all. She didn’t care about what people thought about her. She was so compassionate. She was very stern with what she wanted out of life. She took risks. The best about her and one that I found admiring was that she broke a cycle. Whew! She broke a generational cycle and I was extremely happy for her. She was one strong character.
Colleen giving us the details of the traumatic childhood Lilly had to endure was sad to read, but the crazy thing is it happens more than we think. This book highlighted so much mental, verbal, and physical trauma that needs to be brought up more often. Colleen wrote a very great book that captures romance in the midst of one trying to move forward from their past. It was such a great story to watch unfold. I suggest you not wait to get it either! It is worth every star!
