Seven Days In June Book Review
Seven Days In June
Author: Tia Williams
Synopsis: When Shane and Eva meet unexpectedly at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their past buried traumas, but the eyebrows of New York's Black literati. What no one knows is that twenty years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love. They may be pretending that everything is fine now, but they can't deny their chemistry-or the fact that they've been secretly writing to each other in their books ever since.
Seven Days in June is my favorite 2021 read! You heard me. This book is absolutely delicious. I was hanging on by every single word. Laughing, sympathizing, applauding all throughout the book.
Author Tia Williams exuded blackness in this novel. From the settings, wardrobe, and controversies within the creative African American culture. As a writer myself the panel scene was one of my favorites. Speaking on black literature and the genres was really cool. Plus, I was cracking up at the characters and the shade. Tia really writes in an easy going/real way that you can close your eyes and see the actual scene in your head.
My favorite characters were of course the main characters Eva and Shane. Their childhood trauma is what a lot of children are facing today, and my heart was aching for them. Eva was a very strong yet sensitive woman. I empathize with her the most. I loved how she wrote what she was feeling and going through in a fictional way. It was confirmation for me actually. Of course their love story was making me swoon. I could feel their love through the pages.
“They sat in silence, Eva idly snapping the rubber band on her wrist. “I’m scared,” she admitted finally. “Good.” Cece kissed her cheek. “I’ve seen what you come up with when you’re scared.”
I highly recommend you add this book to your book list. Happy reading sis!
